12 weeks

I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going. I feel like it was just a couple weeks ago we found out I was pregnant! I thought it would be fun to keep a little journal throughout this pregnancy...

How far along: 12 1/2 weeks!

Total weight gained: I gained 6 pounds between weeks 6-8... it was so hard for me to not eat everything I was craving. Plus, I spent an entire month in bed, so I didn't exercise at all.  I have been watching my diet and going to the gym, so I haven't gained a pound since. My goal is to stay as healthy as possible through this pregnancy.

Maternity clothes: Not yet, I barely have a bump :)

Stretch Marks:  Nope! Hopefully I can steer clear of those!

Sleep: Besides going pee every other hour, I actually sleep pretty well!

Best moment of this week: Being nausea free!! I never thought this day would come.

Miss anything: taking hot baths

Movement:  No, baby DeVore is still so tiny!

Food Cravings: A big juicy steak with A1 sauce. I eat at least 1 a week... mmmmm! With it being so hot outside, I have loved popsicles. I started making my own, and they are amazing!

Anything make you nauseous or sick: onions. Even the word makes me want to throw up. Sadly, it took me forever to realize that it was onions that was making me throw up so much. Anytime I eat an onion, my stomach churns and I have the worst nausea until I throw it up. It's absolutely miserable.

Have you started to show: My stomach is starting to barely poke out and is starting to get more round, but my clothes can cover it pretty well.

Gender: I was determined it was girl, just from a couple chinese gender tests I took, but I had a dream a few weeks ago that I was getting an ultrasound and the Dr said it was a boy. Ever since then, I am convinced it's a boy. Either way, we will be so happy!

Labor signs: haha I would be worried if I was! I've still got a long time to go!

Belly button in our out: It's an innie, just like it's always been :)

Wedding rings on or off: On, of course!

Happy or moody most of the time: Depends if I'm hungry or not... as long as I don't have a growling belly, I am usually pretty happy.

Looking forward to: A baby bump! I want to be able to show this baby off :)

Baby DeVore is the size of a plum!

Anniversary Getaway

Chad and I celebrated our second year of marriage with a weekend up in  SLC. It was a much needed getaway with my sweetheart.

Friday night, we tried a little restaurant called "Brugges". I tell ya, being pregnant messes with your appetite. I only ate the fries, apparently the baby isn't a fan of BBQ sauce. We checked into the Sheraton hotel and ended the night by watching "Planet of the Apes".

Saturday morning, we started off our day with a workout in the fitness center. I convinced Chad to get a pedicure and manicure in the hotel spa... it was seriously a miracle. I have been trying to get him to come with me for the past 2 years. I was one happy girl.

Saturday afternoon, Chad insisted that we go shopping at City Creek. Whenever Chad is wanting to go, I know he has something up his sleeve, because it RARELY happens. We ate at Cheesecake Factory and he said I get to pick out a present for our anniversary.. (He knows I have been eyeing a particular Michael Kors purse ;) I have been saving up for this purse for 2 months, because Michael Kors definitely aren't cheap. Being the savvy shopper that Chad is, when he saw the price tag ($400) at Nordstrom, he knew he could find a better deal. Of course, he found the exact same one, on ebay, brand new, with tags and all, for $230!! We couldn't pass up an deal like that! I am anxiously waiting for the package to arrive!

That night we went to our first Real soccer game. It was such an intense game, that ended with a tie. Chad scored perfect seats on row 8, center court.

On our way back to the hotel, we picked up "The Pie" pizza. It's definitely one of our favorites!

Sunday morning we hung out at the hotel and spent some time at the pool. We ended our perfect getaway by getting lunch at the Little America hotel. It was such a great weekend with Chad and I am so grateful he's mine forever... I wouldn't want it any other way! Happy Anniversary!

Summer Nights

The other day was my first official day without nausea. I definitely wanted to take advantage of it, considering the past month has consisted of my bed and netflix. Don't get me wrong, its definitely worth it in the end, but I have been going a bit stir crazy in this house of ours. We spent the evening hiking up one of our most favorite places, Big Springs. It was a blast, just like always.

As we were taking a rest, three dogs came sprinting up the trail to us, without an owner. I was freaked out, who knew if there were friendly or going to attack. Chad quickly picked up Bruno and I tried to push away the dogs. The owner came up a few seconds later and said the dogs were really friendly. We let Bruno down and he had the time of his life running around with his new friends. T'was a great night.

4th of July Weekend

The 4th of July is one of the my favorite holidays. Every year, all the Weitzeil's come down to my parents house and spend a couple days there. It is an activity you definitely don't want to miss out on! This year, my siblings came down a fews days early, and we partied it up. On the 3rd, we spent the afternoon swimming in the DeVore's pool.

Later that night, we spent the evening playing on my parents sport court, which included an intense game of volleyball. Us Weitzeil's thrive for competition... happy to say, my team won!

We ended the night by watching an all-time classic, The Princess Birde, under the stars, with fireworks. Can life get any better?!

I have gone to the annual 4th of July parade in Provo every single year I've been alive. Sounds insane, but it's true. It's a HUGE tradition for the Weitzeil's, and I'm not complaining. I love the parade, it wouldn't feel like the 4th of July without it, or otter pops :)

We decided to spread the baby news to my entire family....

We spent the afternoon with the DeVore's - they always have the best BBQ's and pool parties. How did I get so lucky with the best in-laws?! We ended the night at my family's house for our own Stadium of Fire. Seriously though, we had some pretty legit fireworks.

We wanted to post our baby announcement in a creative way to the social media world. I decided it would be fun to try and spell out "Baby" with sparklers, since we were going to announce around the 4th. It was definitely harder than it looks (we had to spell it backwards and have perfect timing with my camera), but with my awesome brother-in-law, Ryan, we finally got the perfect one.

"We are celebrating more than just the 4th of July..."

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Baby DeVore

I feel like it's been forever since I posted! We have been busy doing other things.... like making a BABY!!! That's right, baby DeVore is on it's way and we couldn't be more excited... or shocked. Let me tell you, making a baby is hard stuff. I always thought you would just get sick in the morning, maybe throw up a couple times, and then be OK. I wish it could be that simple. The whole month of June consisted of me sleeping, puking, working, and sleeping. I never knew my body was capable of so much sleep. 14 hour naps started becoming a regular and a must. I'm happy to say I am finally able to stay vertical for most of the day now.

Let's jump back to the beginning... Chad and I had just gotten back from San Francisco, and I was a few days late on my lady cycle. I figured it was normal since it had been coming a few days late the last few months. After a couple days, I was getting kind of worried and decided to take a pregnancy test. To my relief, the test came back negative. We continued on with our lives. A couple nights later, I was sitting at Chad's softball game and I had the thought to take another test. Maybe I did the first one wrong? Maybe it was a dudd? I told Chad my thoughts after the game and he insisted to immediately to go get not only one, but two more. We have never been so anxious to see the results on a test.

We were both in complete shock!! I have never seen Chad so anxious/nervous/excited/speechless all at the same time. It was actually quite hilarious. Even though we got 2 positive pregnancy tests, it was still hard for us to believe it. I went to the Dr. the next morning to get a definite answer... Baby DeVore was already 5 weeks along!

Chad and I were not planning on getting pregnant. If it were up to us, we probably wouldn't be considering parenthood for a couple years. But our plan and God's plan don't always match up. Honestly, I am grateful for the Lord's timing and I know everything is supposed to happen when it does.

I am currently 10 weeks and hoping the nausea leaves with the first trimester. Baby DeVore is due Feb 3, 2015 and we honestly couldn't be more excited! We are so happy for this new stage in our lives!!

so long, friends

This was our last weekend with the Duffy's. Chad and Tyler have been friends since they were kids, and I was lucky enough to become great friends with Melissa when Chad and I got married. We had a pizza and a pool party as a going away party.  I am grateful for the friendship that Chad and I have had with the Duffy's. So long, friends, you will be missed!

Liebster Award

So I was double tagged by the cute bloggers, Shayli and Sheree for the Liebster award.  For those of who who haven't heard of it, it's a fun way to get to know other bloggers and find new blogs to follow. When I saw this, I was so excited to jump on the bandwagon. I mean, who doesn't love a few fun facts and new friends?!

Here are the Rules:

  • Provide a link back to the blogger who nominated you
  • Post 11 facts about you
  • Answer 11 random question set by the blogger who nominated you
  • Nominate 5 bloggers with under 200 followers for the award
  • Write 11 questions for them to answer
  • Let the nominees know that you have nominated them

11 Facts:

1. I hate every green vegetable. Green beans, peas, spinach, kale, brussel sprouts, etc. You name it, it's on the list.

2. I am literally obsessed with my dogs, Bruno and Lucy… anyone could have guessed that if you follow my instagram. I honestly hope I can love my children as much as my dogs. They set the standard pretty darn high ;)

3. I have always wanted to be an interior designer. I am constantly thinking of ways to upgrade our house. I have 4+ "interior designer" apps on my iPad. I could spend all day designing houses (some days I do). Hopefully one day I will move on from the apps and actually do it!

4. Call me crazy, but I don't like seeing movies at the movie theater. I would prefer to be lounging in my pajamas and cuddling with my man on the love sac. Plus, we save at least $20!

5. Talking about saving, I love doing finances. Sometimes I get a little too excited about setting goals, saving money, and budgeting. Chad will thank me later.

6. I have fallen off of a chairlift not only once, but twice, while skiing. Let's just say I'm not the most coordinated person.

7. I am allergic to bees. Whenever I get stung, I swell up like a balloon and get nasty veins coming out from the sting. It continues to get worse each time I get stung.

8. I'm a very competitive person… sometimes a little too competitive. But what can I say, I love winning!

9. An egg of spiders hatched in my bedroom closet when I was 10. Ever since then, I am terribly afraid of them… Chad can back me up on this one ;)

10. To say I love traveling would be an understatment. I would love to be a world explorer and travel from country to country… but since I don't see that happening any time soon, I love just going on vacations whenever we get an opportunity. Whether it's camping, a road trip to St. George, or a vacation to Hawaii, I'm always up for the adventure.

11. I have had 3 different accidents involving my head, which have all resulted in stitches.

And now, the questions:

1. Favorite childhood memory?

Some of my favorite memories are from our family vacations. Every year, my parents would take us on a family vacation each summer. Some of my favorites were to Disneyland, Boston, New York, Hawaii, Mt. Rushmore, Seattle, Nauvoo and camping. Going on vacations as a family really brought us closer and strengthened our relationships. I hope to carry on that tradition with my family.

2. What is your hobby?

Biking, cleaning, gardening, and baking… those are probably my top 4. I'm definitely a busy body, I like to always be doing something.

3. When did you start blogging and what is your most popular post?
I started blogging in 2010, but I couldn't figure out the whole blogger thing, so I stopped. You can see that sad blog here. I started this blog in 2012, and my first post was about our wedding. You can see that post here. My most popular post was about a baby shower I helped put together for a co-worker. It's not even a great post, but because I posted the baby shower games and linked it to Pinterest, it has gotten repinned over 900 times and the post has had about 17,500 views since November 2013. You can see the baby shower post here.

4. Favorite junk food?

Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream… definitely my biggest weakness.

6. Where is the most amazing place you've ever been?
It's probably a tie between Hawaii and Mexico. I LOVE tropical vacations!

7. How would you describe your style?
Since I'm in scrubs all day for work, I don't get dressed up that often. But when I do, I go all for comfort. I will pretty much wear anything. I wouldn't say I have a specific style.

8. What are you current favorite TV show?
Modern Family, New Girl, Jimmy Fallon, Keeping Up W/ the Kardashians

9. Do you watch YouTUbe videos, and if so, what are your favorite channels?
Not very often, but when I do, it's either for makeup or hair tutorials.

10. What's your best advice for people looking to grow their blogs?

I'm no where near having a popular blog, because I am still learning myself, but from my experience, linking your posts to Pinterest is a great way to get more views.

11. What is the most rewarding part of blogging?

I use my blog like a journal, so I love being able to go back to previous posts and read about our experiences. It brings back so many great memories.

I now nominate:
