Jazz vs. Warriors

Chad's favorite NBA team is the Golden State Warriors in California. He grew up in California and had the opportunity to attend their games multiple times.  When he found out they were playing the Jazz, there was no way we were going to miss the game!

Last Tuesday was the big game. Chad has a good friend from his mission, Bryant, that lives in Salt Lake, that we met up with to go to the game. I met him once before at our wedding reception, but there were so many people there, and we only talked for a few seconds, and so it was nice to officially meet him :)

We lucked out with great seats! We sat on the 24th row in the lower bowl. I am picky with seats. If we don't have good seats, I would rather stay home and watch it on TV because I can see it better. I just hate paying a lot of money for a game when I have to watch it on the big screen.

Every single game Chad and I have gone to (which has been about 9), the Jazz have won. We must be their good luck. It was a great night with amazing people!

Happy Valentines Day

This year we agreed not to get each other anything for Valentines Day. Instead of spending money on chocolates and flowers (that we definitely don't need), we decided to save it. We are trying to pinch pennies since we are looking for a home.

I have been waiting for Valentines Day for a long time. I had all these ideas from Pinterest that I was going to do for Chad. I was so excited to surprise him. I was planning on waking up extra early to make him a special breakfast in bed, but since we got to bed late the night before, it was super hard for me to get up in (I'm not a morning person). After pushing snooze three times, I jumped out of bed and realized it was too late to make breakfast since I had to go to work. I was bummed that I didn't get out of bed sooner.

Since I slacked this morning, I decided I needed to surprise him during lunch. I found a cute sayings on Pinterest that you put on candy bars. During lunch, I went and "heart attacked" his car with love notes, hearts and candybars. He was really surprised :)

Chad came to my work and brought me a dozen of red, beautiful roses and chocolates (so much to sticking to our deal ;) He also got tickets to go see "Warm Bodies", a zombie movie that just came out. We went to Los Hermanos ( one of our favorite restaurants) for dinner then went to the movie. It was such a great night! I love Chad so much, I am so grateful he is my valentine for eternity!

The Last Supper

Sean, my youngest brother, was supposed to enter into the MTC on January 3, 2013, but since there was an outpouring of missionaries entering at the beginning of the year, his date was moved back a month. I was happy because it was an extra month we got to spend with him.

February 13th came waaay too fast. Me & Chad, Christine and her kids (Emily & Joshua), Mike & Somre and their kids (AnaLidia, Isabella and Sofia), my parents and Sean met at Olive Garden for Sean's last supper. It was a great to be with everyone!

The MTC has changed how you drop off a missionary, they only allow one car to drive into the MTC and you say goodbye at the curb. So, we all said our farewells in the Olive Garden parking lot, classy... I know.

AnaLidia, who is 5 years old, was really emotional. It was cute to see her hug Sean so tight. That's when it really hit me. I'm not going to see this kid for 2 years!

Growing up, I always picked on Sean. I would tease him until he cried and we never got along. If he was breathing too loud at dinner, I would get mad. This is just one of the examples of our stupid fights. Once we both went to high school together and I drove him to school everyday, we started getting along and we actually talked to eachother. I am so grateful for the relationship that we now have, we have become great friends.

I didn't think saying goodbye would be so hard. He is going to serve the Lord, this is what he should be doing. I hugged him tight and said goodbye. I cried all the way home. I can be such a cry baby sometimes. He will be such an amazing missionary, but I will definitely miss him. Good luck in the Philippines!

Puppy Love

This last weekend was extraordinary because we got a puppy! He is an American Bulldog (mix of bulldog, pitbull, mastiff and terrier... but don't worry, he is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet!) He is three and a half months. We have been waiting for this puppy for almost a month. The original owner is from Kansas and he had a few complications with the airport and putting the dog on the plane, so it took a little longer than we were expecting to get him, but we are glad he is finally here!

We had the hardest time coming up with a name for him. After a couple of hours of brain storming through hundreds of names, we both agreed on one... Bruno. We are so excited for him to be apart of our little family!

Spider Spaghetti

My favorite food is spaghetti. My worst fear is spiders. They should never be combined together.

Last Sunday, Chad and I went to my parents house for dinner. We are so lucky to live close to both of our parents and that we are able to visit them so often (and get free food ;). It was my niece, Bella's, 4th birthday in January and so Mike, Somre and their kids were going to come down and have her birthday dinner. She requested spaghetti.

A snow storm blew in so Mike and his family didn't end up coming down. Sadly, we ate Bella's birthday dinner without her. I piled my spaghetti high and topped it with cheddar cheese (the secret to amazing spaghetti). As I was taking my first bite, Sean yelped and pushed himself away from the table. Everyone went quiet and looked to see what could be wrong. A brown, medium sized spider crawled out from his pile of spaghetti!! Scared like a little girl, he nudged the spider and it fell on the floor and was instantly squished by his shoe. I couldn't believe my eyes. I instantly lost interest in my spaghetti. I had no desire to finish my dinner. But since it was spaghetti, I felt like I HAD to finish it. How could I throw away this amazingness? I looked through through the food and scanned for spiders. There were none in sight, so I quickly ate what was left before I realized what I was doing.

From this experience, I literally lost my appetite in food for the next couple of days, but looking back it was really funny. Sean was terrified of the spider (I would be too..) and it was funny to see him react like that. I'm sure he will come home a different man when he returns from the Philippines in 2 years. He has 7 days left!
