Duke's 1st Christmas + VLOG

This Christmas is definitely one for the books. Not only was it Duke's 1st, he also had a stomach bug, which made things a little more interesting. He came down with it on Monday and we spent all Tuesday trying to keep anything in his system. He literally would throw up after eating or drinking anything. It's so heart breaking to watch a little baby throw up and dry heave. By midnight, he had thrown up around 12 times and was absolutely miserable. He wouldn't go to sleep and was still throwing up. We called the on-call nurse and she said we needed to go to the ER (because he hadn't had a wet diaper in 10+ hours) and was most likely very dehydrated. So off to the Orem Community hospital we went, at 2 am. Duke was such a trooper for the Dr., and the Dr concluded he caught some sort of stomach bug or the flu. They monitored him for about an hour, gave us some nausea pills, and off we went.

Duke did pretty good on Wednesday, considering he was going off of 2 hours of sleep (that's right, he woke up at 6:15). He managed to keep everything in, so we thought he were good. Christmas Eve night, he got the runs out of both ends, and it sure wasn't little or pretty. Poor baby was miserable. Being the angel baby that he is, he still slept through the night, but the throw up/diarrhea didn't end there. He threw up first thing Christmas morning along with a blow out all over his Christmas jammies. Since our pediatrician's office was closed, we called the ER nurse that helped us the other night. They prescribed another dose of nausea pills. Since taking the pill, he has done great. Now we are crossing our fingers it can be gone and we can have our happy boy back.

All sickness aside, we had a perfect Christmas Day together with our little family. We woke up with about a foot of snow which was such a fun surprise. When I opened the camera lens and movie stick (it makes it easier to record movies from my camera) that Chad gave me, I suddenly became determined to start doing VLOG's (video blog). So here you go, Christmas Day at its finest. Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!

Christmas Photo Shoot

I took Duke up to Thanksgiving Point to have a little Christmas photo shoot with "santa". He missed his nap, and was crying most of the time during the photos, so I honestly left the shoot depressed that I paid $40 to get pictures of him crying, but I was so relieved when I got them. They turned out perfect!

So Duke has major stranger anxiety right now. If someone even looks at him the wrong way, he will start crying. One reason I decided to go to Thanksgiving Point is because I was able to dress up as Santa Claus. I wore a fat suit and all. Duke gave me a few weird looks, but instead of crying, like he would've with a stranger, we were able to get a few smiles out of him.

Afterwards, we visited the reindeer and went to the Dinosaur museum with my family.

First Snowfall

I've been anxiously waiting for a good snow storm because I found the cutest little snow suit for Duke (and it was 50% off too, which makes it that much better). We had a little snow day with my nieces at my parents house and went sledding down their hill. Although he wasn't a fan of being in the snow, he enjoyed it a little bit more once he figured out he could eat it.  Nothing like a snow day with the fam to bring in the Christmas spirit. Now just crossing my fingers it snows on Christmas day!

Duke's 1st time sledding (ps thanks to my fast skills, the garbage can didn't land on him ;)

Dukes 1st Haircut

Before I had Duke, I always thought it was funny how people would get emotional about their baby's first haircut... I mean, after all, it is just hair. Well, today I was one of those mama's.

Lately, Duke's hair has been coming in super fast. His curly mullet and wings were starting to get out of control. I've been going back and forth on whether we should cut it or not, because we get so many comments from people by how much hair he has, but we decided it was time to clean it up.

Cookie Cutters salon in Orem is seriously the best place for kid haircuts. They have little cars to sit in and TVs at every station. Not only that, our stylist was so awesome. I can't even imagine cutting someone's hair, let alone a wiggly baby. He had a lot of distractions so he actually did better than we thought he would (+ there was a screaming 5 year old next to him so it made him seem even that much better). As soon as she pulled out the blow dryer, he was so ready to be done. It was actually pretty funny. We are so happy with how his hair turned out. It's crazy how a little haircut can make someone look so much older!

December 1st

Hello December! We welcomed the new month by putting up all of our Christmas decorations. Our house is slowly coming together and I'm loving it! We put up all the decor when Duke was asleep, because we wanted to surprise him with it, but honestly, he couldn't care less about the it haha! I for sure thought he would be pulling everything off the tree and we would have to move it to somewhere where he couldn't get to it, but we haven't had any problems. I will occasionally catch him taking off an ornament and playing with it, but other than that, he's been so good with it. We have just moved most of the ornaments from the bottom part of the tree so he can't grab them.

I will never get over those rolls. They kill me!

We had a DeVore's girls day, which consisted of shopping, and lots of it. I about died when I saw this hat at H&M that matched Duke's Christmas sweater perfectly! If it weren't $15 I would've bought it. I am just too cheap.
