I can't believe our little baby is one month old! Where does the time go? I wish I could press a pause button on life and play it in slow motion. Life has been SO fun with Duke here and has brought so much happiness into our lives!!
Clothing: Newborn
Bedtime: Between 11:00 - 11:30 pm
Eating:
Duke is only eating breastmilk and I plan on keeping it that way. It's healthier for him, and helps me burn extra calories... plus it's great bonding time! He has started making the cutest cooing noises while he eats. It may just be the cutest thing. He eats about every 2 hours during the day, and about every 3 hours during the night. He has gotten in the habit of eating around 2:45 am, 5 am, and 8 am. Getting up during the middle of the night isn't that bad when you have two handsome faces to stare at ;)
Sleeping:
In order to get him to sleep well at night, I do a little routine to help make him sleepy. I change his diaper, give him a bath (about every other day so it doesn't dry out his skin), change him into pajamas, and do about 10 minutes of tummy time. After that routine, he is usually screaming and is ready to eat. He usually falls asleep while I'm feeding him so it's a good transition to put him to bed.
Development:
He is keeping his eyes open more often and is starting to focus, which is so fun! I got him to smile at me the other day, and my heart melted.
I had heard you aren't supposed to clip baby's fingernails until after they're 3 weeks old, so I was finally able to cut those bad boys. They were seriously so long and were like razor blades every time he touched his face. Now he can wear shirts without the little mittens, which means I get to play with his cute little fingers, which I weirdly have an obsession for.
Likes:
- Snuggling and sleeping on my chest. It may just be my favorite thing. I seriously cuddle him all day everyday
- Being tightly swaddled in his blanket
- Sleeping in his swing with the vibrator on
- Going on walks in his stroller
- Peeing on mom every diaper change
Dislikes:
- Tummy time. More like scream time.
New This Month:
We made our first big outing (besides Dr. appointments) to my parents house. It was so fun! I can't wait till I can take him with me everywhere!
Mommy Update:
- It has been such a fun transition into motherhood. I seriously LOVE being a stay-at-home mom. It has brought me so much more joy than I would've ever imagined and has by far exceeded my expectations.
- I have lost 30 pounds since I gave birth (thanks to breastfeeding), and have only 3 lbs to go until I am at my pre-pregnancy weight!
- Anxiously counting down until my 6 week post-partum appointment so I can get the clear to work out. It's been way too long!
- Trying to keep Mastitis (breast infection + fever) away - I've gotten it twice within the past 2 weeks... boo.
- Keeping busy with full-time work and school (16 credits!)
- Dad has magic hands because he can always get Duke's little burps out.
- Celebrated Dad's big 28th birthday!
We love you Duke and can't imagine life without you! You're the best thing that's ever happened to us!
